Okay, so I didn't finish my blog in time. Today, I had a peculiar reference question and found this neat website along the way! You should check it out!

Flux-Capacitor.......Take me back to Thing #2

So, apparently I probably haven't said enough on each of the THINGS I'm supposed to be doing. Now, I'm going back to Thing #2, with the help of Doc Brown, to blog-out ("write-out") my experience.
The hardest of the 7 1/2 habits is #3 - seeing problems as challenges. I usually am a pessimist and view anything that is not what I want to be doing or in the way of getting me where I want to be as a problem. The easiest is (and obviously) #7 1/2 - PLAY! I enjoy playing around with technology, my dogs, my blog (hey, that rhymed!), my friends, etc. Blogging and rolling through this experience will be filled with playing on various tools and sites.
Hope this satisfies the blogging Gods for Thing #2.

It's Lunch Time! Servin' up some RSS Feeds....(8,9)

Today, I subscribed to the BlogLines RSS newsreader and feed organizer. This is a great technology, but I think it has the potential to be overwhelming. Sure, I'd love to subscribe to tons of feeds and blogs, but I don't think I'd ever get around to reading half the articles!
So, I subscribed to Washington Post book reviews, iTunes top 25 songs, and CNN.com - all of these were found on the Bloglines site. In addition, I added a feed from the Bloodhorse site, for horse racing news, and subscribed to several blogs created by some of my co-workers here at CN.
I have used Technorati before and have found many interesting blogs using it. For instance, when the new Harry Potter book was coming out, there were numerous blogs on what people thought would happen to our guy Harry. The searching is pretty simple and there is a wealth of blogs out there!
I definitely see the benefit of RSS feeds and making it easier for all of us web-goers to organize our news tidbits in a way that is ad-free and seamless.

La Cosa Numero Siete

My number 7 activity (finally)....

I recently had a workshop on Finding and Using Internet Tools and Resources at Kent State. One thing we learned was mash-ups. If you search on google, you can really find some interesting mash-ups out there. Thing #6 discussed mash-ups briefly, but I found a mash-up site that is useful and fun!

The site is: http://www.weatherbonk.com/ The site is called Weather Bonk. It is a mash-up of weather (from the Weather Channel), maps (from Google), and traffic info from various live web cams around the area. In addition, traffic maps show what roads are under-construction, closed, lanes closed, etc. The map even allows you to see the newly posted speed in construction zones. For those of us that travel to Sebring and know first hand the madness of OH road construction, this could be a useful site!

Check it out!
